Documentary

Even though the pollution crisis in the Tijuana River has been worsening for decades, it has yet to gain widespread public awareness outside of affected communities. Its visibility must increase in order to gain the funding it needs.

Non-Toxic San Diego aims to attract more eyes to the Tijuana River Crisis by creating a comprehensive documentary. We began with the history of the issue, focusing on the factors that caused the crisis and past responses from the governments of the United States and Mexico.

This film provides a broad overview of the history, causes, and effects of the sewage crisis in the Tijuana River. We cover its environmental, health, emotional, economic, and political impacts, as well as the progress that has been made. We feature a wide array of perspectives and opinions through interviews with key stakeholders, such as politicians, activists, residents, and researchers.

1 Minute Documentary

On top of our full documentary, we have also created a 1 minute documentary that serves as an overview of the Tijuana River Crisis.

Although viewers may not be able to understand the situation in its entirety, this short version highlights the detrimental impacts that the Tijuana River Crisis has, not only on the environment but also on the cities and people around it.

The documentary hopefully will spark interest in learning the full depths of the Tijuana River Crisis, or raise awareness regarding the crisis.

6 Minute Documentary

Finally, we have also created a 6 minute documentary. Think of it as the perfect middle ground between the previous two documentaries. Viewers that are curious about the Tijuana River Crisis, whether that be from watching the 1 minute documentary or from happenstance, but are still wary of the full documentary can watch this version.

The 6 minute documentary gives insight on the political and environmental issues, while also addressing the work of several advocacy groups that are working together to solve the issue.
